  1. Mix all the meatball ingredients together and form into small balls. Fry them in a pan with some oil till light brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. In a large wok, heat some oil. Add the whole spices and bay leaf. Once it splutters, add the onion paste. Keep frying on medium heat till it browns lightly. Ensure it does not catch. Add the ginger-garlic paste and powdered spices and mix well. Keep frying till the oil separates.
  3. Once the raw smell goes, add the tomato puree and fry. Add some water and let this cook for some time. Add the coconut milk and the meatballs.
  4. Cover and let this simmer for some time. You can adjust the consistency of your gravy with some water. I like to add a little extra coconut milk, but totally up to you. Taste and adjust your seasoning.
  5. When I add the meatballs, I like to add a few chopped potatoes as well and let them cook in the gravy.
  6. Let it simmer for 10-15 mins. Adjust your gravy, remove and serve hot with yellow rice and papad!
